Maintenance of DétruiRAT traps
They require very little maintenance!
Low maintenance
DétruiRAT traps require little maintenance, but absolutely avoid placing them in areas exposed to rain or damp.
In the event of intervention, please disconnect all power to the trap. The trap is powered by 12 V, but a transformer raises the voltage to 6000 V!
If you do not follow the safety instructions, you could be in danger of electric shock.
Wearing gloves
We recommend that you wear gloves when working, but make sure that they are not impregnated with any products and that they do not give off any odours.
Avoid impregnating traps with an odour that might make rats wary.
Clean the slides
For the "DestruiRAT Vif", "Mini Prise" and "Mort ou Vif" traps, if a door remains blocked, clean the slides and if the problem is due to the electromagnets, remove the two small screws inside the tunnel to remove the electromagnet cover and inject the minimum amount of WD-40 by operating the electromagnet pivot. Wipe off any excess
Avoid lubricants
Avoid applying any lubricant to the trap parts, as oil or grease could accumulate dust, preventing the doors and mechanism from closing and causing premature wear. If any dust accumulates in the slides despite the recommendations, remove it carefully using a cotton bud, stick or plastic rod, taking care not to scratch the slides and doors. The smell of certain lubricants could repel rodents and render the trap totally ineffective.
If the 1/4 turn of the trap lock and start/stop lever is oxidised, use WD-40 degreaser carefully. Place a cloth under the seized part and inject as little as necessary to free the part.
Infrared protection
Depending on where the traps are used and their environment, dust and other elements may accumulate.
If you hear a continuous beep with the IR1, IR2 or IR3 display on the digital screen when you switch on the DétruiRAT traps, remove the interfering element that is obstructing the infrared barrier.
If the problem persists, clean the infrared protectors by wiping them with a clean, slightly damp, unscented cloth and remove any spider nests or webs. You can dismantle the infrared cover to clean them properly from the inside, including the infrared LEDs.
Electrocution problem
For the Maxi-Prise trap, it is crucial that the number of rodents electrocuted matches the figure displayed on the screen. Otherwise, an electrocution problem could occur. Disconnect the trap and clean the 4 electrodes with a brass wire brush or metal sponge. Check the cable under the electrocution cell on the left-hand side.
To access the interior, disconnect the power supply to the trap and remove the tray. In the trap where the tray is located, on the left, there is a half-moon-shaped opening in the sheet metal. There is a pivot that you can operate to turn the trap around. When you do this, the two doors and the electrocution cell open or close. This pivot also allows you to check whether there is any hardness in the trap mechanism, which in the correct position will make it easier to clean the four electrodes. To carry out this work, please wear clean, odourless gloves and a mask to avoid inhaling dust. When brushing the electrodes, hold the back of the electrocution cell plate so as not to exert pressure on the mechanism's connecting rods.
For Mini-Grip and Dead or Live traps, simply disconnect the power supply to the trap, unlock the front of the electrocution cell and open and clean the electrodes. Be careful not to damage the infrared lamps inside the trap.
