DétruiRAT traps, an ecological revolution in rodent control.
DétruiRAT offers a new, modern range of traps for rats, mice and other rodents. If you want to capture or eliminate them without suffering, without rat poison or other poisons, we have the trap model to suit your needs.
Whether you're a private individual, a professional or a local authority, whether you're just looking for prevention, or you're in the middle of a rat or mouse invasion, our range of traps will meet your needs, without having to call in a pest control company.
For years, we've been trying in vain to eliminate rats from our warehouses. Thanks to the Détruirat Maxi-prises trap, none of these intruders can harm our stock of goods! Thank you Détruirat!
Over 5 years of research and development to produce the most effective weapon possible to counter invasions and combat the presence of rats and mice.
But why? Why have you invested so much time and effort in eliminating these pests when there are so many mechanical traps, pest control companies, and even a multitude of poisons available in supermarkets or simply distributed by local authorities?
Our approach can be summed up quite simply: we wanted a method that was effective, painless for pests, environmentally friendly and accessible..
Whether you're an invaded private individual or a company obliged to draw up a pest control plan, we have the solution to control rats and mice, without poison!
Rats are not easily trapped or eliminated, rodenticides and other poisons are not very ecological or effective, and the systems available on the market to trap or kill them mechanically are not the most efficient.
Not only do rats become accustomed to poisons, but they are also very suspicious when they find a “new” food in their environment. The rat's neophobia is certainly its most effective weapon against poisons and other baits.
Eliminating pests isn't always easy, and the consequences of your attempts with poisons are not without consequences...
- Disease transmission
- The environment
- The ecosystem
- Risk of poisoning your pets
No, unfortunately, as explained in the previous point, poisons are far from being the best defense against pests because the rat has to taste them...and that's no easy task!
Generally speaking, when you see a rat or a mouse, there's always a larger number well hidden, and the odds are that some rats or other pests will end up tasting the products...but this is not without risk...
It takes some time for the poison to take effect. Usually between 24 and 48 hours, but sometimes longer, from 3 to 18 days for some major brands. Poison manufacturers know that rats and mice are very wary: if death were instantaneous, other members of the colony might be alerted!
By waiting for the rat or mouse to die from the effect of the poison (a long and debatable agony, as they certainly cause a lot of problems, but they are living beings nonetheless), the animal will be less alert and attentive, and therefore more easily accessible to the various predators... and this is not without consequences...
Contamination, ingestion, even if accidental!
To poison a rat or other rodent, you need poison. Obvious, you may say... but possessing poison is not without risk.
Even if contradictory information is circulating, the precautionary principle should not be neglected... Not all poisons are manufactured with the same concentrations of products, and some components are not always disclosed, but prevention is better than cure...
Obviously, if poisons are used without specific bait boxes, or improperly stored, or if an animal or child gains access to the poison despite the “protections”, we're no longer talking about risk, but about direct poisoning. If you have poison in your home, put it somewhere safe! In the event of ingestion, contact the Poison Control Center as soon as possible.
Domestic cats, for example, like to hunt and play with rats and mice. There's little risk of the domestic cat eating its prey, but it could be poisoned indirectly by licking or biting the pest and thus coming into contact with the poison. The same applies to dogs: in reality, your pets may be collateral victims of pest control, but wildlife can also be affected. Unfortunately, pests' natural predators are also indirect victims of poisons: foxes, but also birds of prey such as barn owls, owls, buzzards, kites, etc., which regularly feed on rats!
Many claim that poisons are harmless to other animal species, while others are less certain... But let's be clear, these poisons are far from harmless, even to humans!

Vilified rodents, commonly known as rats, have an important role to play in nature, feeding on our garbage, regulating the volume of waste in sewers, detecting disease, defusing landmines, and so on.
The problem is that rats have no real predators in inhabited environments. They reproduce very quickly, just like mice, and soon find themselves outnumbered. In the countryside, birds of prey, foxes and other predators can regulate the volume of colonies, but in the city, it's another matter...
As well as carrying disease, they can also contaminate food and feed. A problem that can have serious consequences for individuals and businesses alike! They can also gnaw through anything, including electrical wires, pipes and insulation materials. They can also cause fires.
In short, living with rodents is not without risk!
Whether you're an individual or a company, DétruiRAT® traps have been designed to eliminate rats, mice and other rodents, and manufactured to meet your needs, depending on your budget, the size of your business and the extent of the rat invasion.
As a company, you can design your own pest control plan to meet AFSCA requirements. Follow our recommendations for effective results: not only are our traps environmentally friendly, they can also save you a lot of money by helping you solve your pest problems quickly and on your own.
If you're concerned about destroying other animal species, you can opt for a “DétruiRAT® Vif” or “DétruiRAT® Mort ou Vif” trap. In addition, the “Bird Protection” mode is an invaluable feature, as it automatically stops the trap at daybreak and restarts it at dusk, saving you the trouble of catching and killing birds during the day. In all cases, remain vigilant: respect nature and local laws and regulations concerning the capture and disposal of pests.
DétruiRAT traps have been designed to eliminate rats and other rodent pests cleanly, without unnecessary suffering, and without chemicals.
If you've chosen one of our models with the electrocution system, it's important to know that this device has been designed to eliminate the pest instantly. The rodent doesn't have time to suffer, it dies directly.
When the animal is caught in the trap, it reacts directly to the sound of the doors. It knows there's danger, and will flee via the only available route, the tunnel that takes it directly into the electrocution chamber. Your trap is equipped with an infrared barrier, so you know exactly where the rat is, and the electrocution is effective.
There's no risk of the animal just being injured and suffering, as the electrocution is only triggered when the rat is in the right position.
Unlike some systems for trapping rats and other pests, there is no risk of causing unnecessary suffering to the animal.
In the Walloon region of Belgium, the Walloon Animal Welfare Code specifies a number of points, some of which may be interpreted in terms of pest control, while others do not apply, but let's not forget that pests are still living animals, and some rats are domesticated:
Art. D.57.
§ 1. An animal may only be killed by a person having the required knowledge and skills, and using the most selective, quickest and least painful method for the animal.
An animal is killed only after it has been anaesthetized or stunned, except in the following cases:
3° pest control
Art. D.9
§ 1. No one may restrict an animal's freedom of movement to such an extent as to expose it to avoidable pain, suffering or injury. An animal may not be perpetually tethered.
Art. D.36
§ 1. It is forbidden to perform or have performed on an animal one or more operations resulting in the amputation or injury of one or more sensitive parts of its body.
Art. D39
6° to give an animal a substance which may cause it suffering or injury, except for medical reasons;
12° the use of glue traps is prohibited.
Art. D.40
The Government may, on the advice of the Walloon Animal Welfare Council, prohibit or restrict the use of accessories or products that cause avoidable pain, suffering or injury to animals.
Art. D.105. § 1. Anyone who :
1° engages, except for legitimate reasons, in acts which result in the unnecessary death of an animal or in the unnecessary injury, mutilation, pain or suffering of an animal ;
5° reduces an animal's freedom of movement to the point of exposing it to avoidable pain, suffering or injury, or contravenes the rules set by the Government pursuant to article D.9, § 2.

Glue traps are therefore prohibited. Animals stuck in these traps endure long agony when they are not eaten alive by other animals.
The use of these small traps is questionable, as the trapped animal, if not quickly released, will die trapped. The size of the trap is important: a cage that is too small is obviously not recommended, as the rodent could also be injured by the mechanism. This type of trap is not currently prohibited, but if you wish to capture a rodent with this device, prefer a larger cage.
The mouse/rat trap. If the rodent is badly caught by the bar, it may not be killed on the spot, or it may be wounded and eventually die, but there are solutions to prevent the trapped rodents from suffering. This type of trap is not currently prohibited.
